Creating and sending a quote

Building a quote, choosing its currency, and what your customer sees.

By PrimemgrUpdated How we research and check this

Go to Quotes and choose Add quote. Pick the customer, and optionally a site or an asset. A quote starts in your own currency; you can open it in another currency instead, and every price on it, and on the invoice made from it, is then in that currency.

Lines and tax

Add a line for each thing you are quoting, with a quantity, a unit price and a tax code. Prices are entered in the currency's own decimal places, so an amount with too many decimals is refused rather than rounded. Tax codes are set up in Settings → Tax codes.

Sending it

Choose Send to customer, add terms or an expiry if you want, then Send. We email your customer a link and show it to you to copy as well. They can open the quote from it and accept or decline it there, and their answer appears on the quote. Once it is accepted you can invoice it: see Invoicing from an accepted quote.

Turning it into a job

On an accepted quote, Create job makes a job for the same customer, site and asset, with a checklist task for each line of work they agreed to. Fees and anything they declined are left off. The quote and the job link to each other, and you can still invoice the quote. A quote becomes one job; the button disappears once it has.
