GST (Goods and Services Tax)

A tax on most goods and services, charged by registered businesses in Australia and New Zealand.

GST is a consumption tax charged on most goods and services in Australia and New Zealand, by businesses registered for it. In the UK and Ireland the equivalent is VAT.

Whether you must register, and at what rate, depends on your country and turnover. This is general information, not tax advice: your accountant or tax authority is the right source for your situation.

For example: in Australia a $200 job plus 10% GST is invoiced at $220. The business pays the $20 of GST to the tax office and claims back GST it paid on business purchases.
