Working a job

Moving a job through its statuses, tasks, photos and files, time, and billing it.

By PrimemgrUpdated How we research and check this

Jobs lists your work, and you can filter it by status. What your jobs are called, and the statuses they move through, come from your industry setup. You can rename jobs in Settings → Terminology; the statuses change only when you upgrade your industry setup.

On a job

Move takes the job to its next status. Only the moves your workflow allows are offered, and cancelling asks for a reason. Tasks break the job into steps. Photos & files holds what you attach.

A job made from an accepted quote shows the quote it came from, and starts with a task for each line of work the customer agreed to.

Uploaded files are checked for viruses before anyone can download them. Until that check is in place a file shows as uploaded and waiting, without a download link. It is kept, not lost.

Time

On a job, the Time section shows the hours recorded against it; choose Record time to open your timesheet. There you can start a timer against a job, add time by hand, and choose Submit week for approval when it is right.

Billing the job

The Invoice section on a job either invoices the quote it came from, or opens a draft invoice for the job so you can add what you are billing. Invoices made either way are linked on the job.
