Markup Calculator

Turn a cost and a markup into a sell price, and see the margin it actually produces.

What this assumes

  • Markup is applied to cost; margin is measured against the sell price.

Why this number matters

Markup and margin are not the same number and confusing them is expensive. A 50% markup on a $100 part sells at $150 and earns a 33% margin, not 50%. Businesses that quote on markup and budget on margin quietly miss their targets every month.

How it is worked out

  • Sell price = cost × (1 + markup %)
  • Gross profit = sell price − cost
  • Margin = gross profit ÷ sell price

The same formulas run in your browser as you type; nothing you enter is sent anywhere.
