Gas appliance safety checklist

The common checks on a gas appliance: gas tightness, the flue, ventilation, the burner, a carbon monoxide reading in the room and the safety devices, with a record of whether the appliance was left isolated.

This is a checklist for your own records, not a gas safety certificate or compliance certificate (such as a CP12 in Great Britain); those are issued on the prescribed form by a registered gas fitter.

The checks

• Appliance (type, make and model)
• Where it is installed
• Gas tightness test: pass, advisory, fail or not applicable
• Flue and terminal: pass, advisory, fail or not applicable
• Ventilation adequate: pass, advisory, fail or not applicable
• Burner and flame picture: pass, advisory, fail or not applicable
• Carbon monoxide in the room (ppm) (a finding above 9 ppm)
• Safety devices operate: pass, advisory, fail or not applicable
• Appliance left isolated? (yes or no)
• Notes for the customer
• Checked by: the technician’s name

Use it in Primemgr
