Why this number matters
Capacity is the ceiling. If your revenue target is above it, no amount of marketing will get you there: the answer is another technician, better utilisation or a higher rate, and this shows which of the three closes the gap.
How it is worked out
- Billable hours available = people × billable hours per week × working weeks
- Annual capacity = billable hours available × charge-out rate
- Extra people needed = shortfall ÷ (billable hours per week × weeks × rate), rounded up
