Quote or estimate?
An estimate is your best guess and can change; a quote is a fixed price for the work described, for as long as it says it is valid. Customers treat a quote as a promise, so describe exactly what is included and what is not.
What makes a quote get accepted
Send it while the customer still cares, the same day if you can. Describe the work in their words, not part numbers. Show the tax and the total, say how long the price holds, and make saying yes easy.
Lines customers understand
Group materials and labour under the job they belong to, and put optional extras on their own lines so the customer can see what each choice costs. A customer who can see what each line does can see why it costs what it does.
