Stock value on any date

What your stock was worth at the end of any day, including in the past.

By PrimemgrUpdated How we research and check this

Reports → Stock value shows what your stock was worth at the end of any day you choose, by item, category or location, at weighted average cost. It counts the products you track in Inventory; see Parts, stock and purchase orders for recording stock.

It is worked out from every stock movement up to that day, so the figure for 30 June will be the same whenever you run it, and a movement entered late but dated in June is counted in June.

An example

You buy 10 filters at $4 and later 10 more at $6. At weighted average cost each filter is valued at $5, so the 20 on hand are worth $100. After 5 are used on jobs, the 15 left are worth $75. Run the report for the day of a stocktake and compare it with what was counted, or for the last day of the financial year for the stock figure in your accounts.
