The problem
Nobody knows what is on the van until it is not. Parts are bought twice, used without being recorded, and the stock figure at year end is a guess.
Primemgr tracks the products you choose from your price list, in every place you keep them. Turn Inventory on in Settings → Modules, and Purchasing for orders to suppliers.
Every change is a movement
- Received in, moved between the store and a van, adjusted after a count, or written off.
- Parts used on a job come off the shelf they came from, and can be returned if they were not needed.
- On hand, reserved, available and on order are shown for each item and location.
- Items at or below their reorder level are flagged, allowing for what is already on order.
Stock cannot be taken out beyond what is there, and a part reserved for one job is not free for another.
Purchase orders
Raise an order to a supplier, mark it as ordered, and receive it as it arrives, in parts if it comes in parts. Receiving more than was ordered is refused with the numbers, and the stock is valued at the price you agreed.
A stock value you can trust
Stock is valued at weighted average cost from the full history of movements, so the value on any past date can be worked out again, and moving stock between locations keeps its cost.
What it does not do yet
There is no barcode scanning or serial-number tracking, and purchase orders are not emailed to suppliers from the app.
Common questions
- Do I have to track every item?
- No. Choose which products to track; services and labour never are.
- Can I keep stock in vans?
- Yes. Each van, store or shelf is a location, and stock moves between them with its cost.
- How is stock valued?
- At weighted average cost, recalculated from every movement.
