Deposit

Part of the price paid up front, usually to secure a booking or cover materials.

Updated

A deposit is an amount paid before work starts, to secure a booking or to cover materials bought for the job. It is deducted from the final invoice.

What happens to a deposit if the customer cancels should be written down before you take one, because it becomes a promise the moment money changes hands.

For example: a customer books a four-hour deep clean and pays a $50 deposit to secure it. The deposit comes off the final price, and the booking terms say what happens to it if the booking is cancelled late.

How Primemgr handles this

In Primemgr a deposit is recorded as a part payment against the invoice; the invoice then shows as part paid, with the balance still owing.
